Full Bio
The quartet aims toward recognizable sound through original compositions composed by Zdenko Ivanusic. In addition to being a well-trained instrumentalist, each member has a great flexibility and improvisational skills so needed in jazz and contemporary classical music. The DLSQ is an ensemble that creates robust sound with blowing approach, but can be lyrical with airy sound in ballads.

Zdenko Ivanusic - born in Zagreb (Croatia) in 1967. DLSQ´s artistic director and conceptualizer. Graduated in saxophone performance from the Zagreb Academy of Music. Holds principal alto chair in Croatian Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra since 1992. He´s been playing with Zagreb Philharmonic, Croatian Radio-TV Symphonic Orchestra, Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb and Croatian Music Institute Big Band. He has been soloist and lead alto with HGM Jazz Orchestra Zagreb, under the leadership of Austrian band leader Sigi Feigl since it was founded in 2002.

Andrej Henigman - born in Zagreb (Croatia) in 1962. Graduated in saxophone performance from the Zagreb Academy of Music. The most experienced member of the DLSQ, he has been on the jazz scene for twenty plus years. He is a gentle player in Hodges/Desmond tradition. He collaborates with Croatian Television Big Band and the Symphonic Orchestra and permanently works as a member of the Croatian Music Institute Big Band. He has been playing in the Croatian Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra since 1992.

Vanja Ilekovic - born in Bjelovar (Croatia) in 1978. Graduated in saxophone performance from the Zagreb Academy of Music. The tenor player fills up the quartet with his naturally fat sound. A member of Croatian Army Symphonic Wind Orchestra and popular band Swingers.

Ales Susa - born in Nova Gorica (Slovenia) in 1972. Graduated in jazz-saxophone performance from the Kunst Universität in Graz (Austria). He has been member of the Slovenian Radio-television Big Band since 2001. He is artistic leader of Big Band Krsko and member of the Petar Ugrin Band. Teaches jazz-saxophon Music School in Ljubljana. The Bottom Man lays down those bass lines and pedals so needed in DLSQ´s conception.
