REVIEW:
This is one of those rare songs which both have an instant appeal - and - grow on you some more with each listen. Small mixing issues notwithstanding, we believe you have a solid chance with this song on the international market. But a great song is only |
REVIEW:
An excellent track and a good production, showing a good understanding of what a mainstream cross-over pop/rock hit is all about. This track has a catchy melody and a fantastic lead vocalist - basically everything you need to break into the charts. And yet - in our opinion - you could still switch this track on some more. If your goal is to cross over into the international mainstream, we think you need to ``beef up`` the chorus. Also the repetitive pre-chorus somehow doesn`t translate - it`s good, and yet none of us quite got it. But we all loved the chorus - only wishing it had more power. Take bands like Evanescence or Rasmus for reference, and with only very little extra work, you could have a potential hit here. Very well done. |
REVIEW:
We liked the message and the way you`ve conceived this track, the beat, the lead vocal, the rapping. The mix, too, was clean and punchy.
And yet the song didn`t quite achieve its goals, not just as a potential cross-over song, but also as a potential hip-hop hit. We felt that there are three key areas where you`d need to revise this tune in order to well and truly be able to kick some butt:
1) The lead vocal is very vibey but not always perfectly in tune. It also needs to sound a bit more confident. We all loved the sound of the girls` voice, though.
2) The mix on the rap should be drier (too much reverb). Hip-hop needs to sound ``street`` - your mix comes across ``too civilized.``
3) A more natural, ``heartfelt`` delivery would be advisable. You sure can rap, technically speaking, but now you must make it feel like this is the way you REALLY are. Consider also doubling certain phrases, just to build energy and have natural rises and falls in energy.
All this aside, we enjoyed this production very much. |
REVIEW:
Here`s a text-book example of how it`s done. Everything about this song is professional, well-balanced, tasteful, and radio-friendly. Well sung, well played, well mixed and well produced. On our first listen we didn`t feel the chorus was equally as strong as the very vibey pre-chorus, but when mixing the show afterwards, our second impression was that it wasn`t far off either.
Be that as it may, this song has made a great impression on us all, irrespective of our musical backgrounds - and that`s what crossover is all about.
This is one of the highest scoring songs on Fame Games ever, so far - very well done! |

THE VERDICT:
A band on your level (assuming that you have follow-up material, a stage show and an image to match the quality of your first song) is in a prime position to find a good record deal - if you`re ready for it mentally. You should now be able to approach lab |
THE VERDICT:
Easily one of the best tracks we`ve had on Fame Games so far. With small modifications in the otherwise excellent production, this song could become a hit, given half a chance. Very well done, congratulations! |
THE VERDICT:
A very good effort, which in spite of small required tweaks, shows a lot of promise. Keep it real, be totally precise, and make it appear completely wild and yet fully in control. You`re not far, though, so don`t give up and let us hear a remix when you`re done! |
THE VERDICT:
If you have more songs of equal quality, then with a good image and dedicated and professional management, you should have no greater difficulties getting A&R men to listen. Whether or not you can find a deal at the end of the day is a whole different matter, having more to do with fads and the spines of the record labels you`ll be pitching to than anything else.
Happy hunting & good luck! |
