THE MUSICAL BIOGRAPHY OF GREGORY J. BENNETT
Gregory J. Bennett is an award-winning innovator of funkafied dance and urban grooves with pop and progressive jazz sensibilities. He’s also a composer of orchestral/symphonic music as well. Among some of his most recent accomplishments, having a positive impact in this ever-changing entertainment industry has been his primary focus. One of Greg´s goals is to gain recognition within the video game industry. Recently, he was fortunate enough to land one of his amazing orchestral tracks on the ‘I Saw You On TV Records’, ´Video Game Composers Vol 1´ CD. Also recently, Greg provided music to the TV advertisements for the Ronzio law firm on channel KRCA in Los Angeles. His entry into the mobile music industry has been successful as he secured mobile music licensing and distribution deals with a couple of mobile entertainment companies, such as, Boost Mobile and Brickhouse Mobile Entertainment. His master ringtones and ringback tones have garnered surprisily respectable sales per quarter. Some of Gregory´s instrumental tracks have been licensed to cable TV programming(most recently on VH-1, MTV, The Food Network, HGTV, BET, HBO and E!, just to name a few.), music-on-hold applications and Muzak. His music can also be heard on the soundtracks of the highly anticipated films entitled ´Cain and Abel´ and ‘The Gastineau Girls’ by Mercury Rising Films. In 2003, Gregory was named ´´One Of The Top20 Indie Composer/producers´´ at the Listen & Exchange Awards.
As a performing musician from the late 70´s to the early 90´s and currently as a composer/producer, Gregory has taken everything from r&b to pop, from jazz to hiphop, from easy listening to orchestral music and melded all of these flavas into a delightful synthesis of sensuous, seductive and provocative gumbo.
Some of my early influences included Sly and the Family Stone, Parliament/Funkadelic, Kraftwerk, Earth Wind & Fire, Grover Washington, Billy Cobham, Herbie Hancock, just to name a few.
I am similar to a diverse mix of artists like Soulive, Pieces of a Dream, Prince, Jungle Brothers, Chromeo, Black Eyed Peas, Head Hunters, Moby, George Duke, just to name a few.
