Music Style/Genre
If Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, or Celine Dion, are the musicians that turn your crank, then you´re probably not gonna like this! However, if you grabbed Neil Finn from Crowded House, Bryan Adams, and the Jayhawks, threw them on a private beach somewhere down under loaded with guitars and whiskey, you might end up with something similar to my music.

She´s Just Like Summer (Rock LLight rock, Soft-rock, Rocky-Pop, Pop-rock, etc. Kelly Pettit has classified the song as: Some have said the song gives off a Rob Thomas or a Counting Crows vibe. I really have no idea. I wasn´t writing it with a specific style in mind. It´s just what transpired from within at the time.) |

Someday (Rock GGeneral rock, Indie, Pop-rock, AOR, Country Rock, 70s, 80s, etc. Kelly Pettit has classified the song as: I was trying to layer guitars in a similar vein to Foofighters. I also wanted to create dynamics to the song with a big explosion at the end. The vocals almost get lost in the mix just like how the lyrics express desire for the same.) |

Full Bio
Kelly Pettit is the offspring of a redneck Aussie bloke and a west coast Canuck. Raised on Vancouver Island, with dual citizenships on opposite sides of the world, Kelly has bounced back and forth and everywhere in between.
After playing in lots of very bad bands as a teenager and dipping in and out of local recording studios, Kelly decided to go take all his possessions (bicycle, backpack, $5, and a guitar), and chase dreams in the land down under. This is where he discovered busking, surfing, beer, women and the art of performing live.
Influenced by Aussie bands and more so Crowded House, Kelly cunningly snuck back stage after one of their concerts and ended up playing guitar with lead singer Neil Finn (Mr. Finn “you’re playing it wrong, man”).
From there, Kelly started jamming with talented musicians from all walks of life and moving his act indoors with proper sound systems. After time, several other countries, some scrapes and bruises, Kelly ended back in Vancouver to study. During those days, music was always a part time job and songwriting never stopped.
10 years ago Kelly was invited to perform in Japan from a music agency in Tokyo and now he is busier than ever writing music and performing live. To date, he has just released his 4th CD titled “FUEL”, recently won an ultimate band contest, gigged everywhere, written a score, had a song in a soundtrack, in compilation CD’s, reviews in magazines, performed on TV and radio, produced and on more occasions than he cares to mention been a wedding singer.
Short Bio
Kelly was born in Nanaimo, on the west coast of Canada. After living in several different countries and gathering influences from many corners of the world, he now resides in Japan where he is a full time musician. Influenced by bands like Crowded House, Bryan Adams and Counting Crows, Kelly tries to write songs that don´t sound like each other and from that has unconciously ended up with a very diverse and unique sound.

I feel reallly fortunate to win Track of the Week for 3 weeks straight. I have a feeling that this week however, is going to be extremely tough as I have listened to some amazing songs that I will be up against. Whatever the outcome for me, it´s been a fun ride! Thanks FG´s.
´´She´s Just Like Summer´´, was one of those songs that almost wrote itself. As you might expect, it was written in the summer and yes, the words were inspired by a new romance in the air. I wanted to capture a feel good, driving with the windows down, life is great mood. At the time, that´s exactly how I was feeling and it was probably the only kind of song I could have written. I´m so glad some of you are enjoying it too!
